When thinking about the health of the environment and the plants, I depicted them completing their seasonal changes, reaching full bloom, and leaves covering the Earth's soil. I crocheted various species and shapes of flowers and utilized bright-colored yarn to symbolize their growth.
To display the reliance of the plants for a steady base, I attached the crocheted flowers to a sheer brown voile fabric to represent the earth's soil. The sheer quality of the fabric provides insight into how the soil needed for the plants to grow is important, but there are other underlying factors such as sunlight, rainfall, and wind patterns that contribute to healthy growth as well. These environmental factors are greatly affected by climate change, and symbolizing their health, the importance of the climate to the growth of plants is highlighted.
